 Story:

In Hong Kong, Cheng Lai-sheung works two jobs with the hope of earning enough money to buy her own apartment with a view of the Victoria Harbour. In mixed chronological order, we see scenes from Lai-sheung's past. In her childhood, her family and friends are evicted from their low-rent housing so that developers can build expensive flats. Later in life, she vows to buy her mother and father a new apartment, but is unable to fulfill her promise before her mother dies. When her father becomes ill, she begins searching in earnest for a new place, having an obsession for the Victoria Bay No. 1 high-rise address from a childhood vow that she would one day buy a flat near the harbour so that her uncle would not have to walk there and back on a daily basis and not needing to search for him every evening.

The bank will only give her a 70% mortgage and payments would reach over $15,000. Unfortunately, because of an oversight in declaring her father's medical history, she no longer has insurance to pay for his expensive treatment and has to take a second job. After Lai-sheung does save enough for a down-payment, her father's medical bills become excessive. When she asks her married lover for a loan to cover these, he refuses. One night her father has trouble breathing and, instead of giving him his oxygen, Lai-sheung allows him to die. The insurance payment now adds enough money to her current savings to purchase her dream flat.

On her way to finalise the purchase, there is a hike in the stock market that makes the owners decide to raise the price. This sends Lai-sheung into a frenzy where she goes to the flats and attacks people who live and work there, killing them with low-tech, household items. During the course of the final killings, the police arrive at the flat, demanding entry. A struggle ensues during which both officers are killed.

Returning to her day job, Lai-sheung receives a call from her agent saying the owners of the flat she wishes to buy are willing to sell after all. Lai-sheung suggests that they might want to sell for a lower price, since there were 11 murders in the building the previous evening. That night, Lai-sheung's lover comes round to pick her up, but she turns her back on him and walks away, ending their relationship.

Super awesome gruesome horror movie which i super like it. Its been quite sometime i didn't see such a nice horror hk movie already. Love the storyline and how the movie been carried out for the whole movie. And Lawrence Chou really have a super great ass~ love it!!!

 Story: 

 Ho moved into an old building and into a haunted unit which a twins sisters kill a rapist (husband of Feng) and suicide. The twins' spirit wanted to have Ho as replacement but couldn't make it after Yao safe him. In another hand, old couple Mui & Dong live in the same building too and Dong slip and fall from staircase and cause the bad ghost master to cheat Mui and turn Dong into a living dead.

The twins' spirit went into Dong's corpse and try to fight against Yao & Ho, but luckily they were defeated in the end. Everything changed and nothing seems to be happened before...

Its been such a long time that HK havent come out with any chinese vampire movie ever since Lam Zheng Ying passed away. This movie was originally written for Ricky Hui, but Ricky passed away before the script even finish, therefore, Ho as Zheng Ying & Ricky old partner was chosen to be the main actor.

 Story:

 Loy is a 41-year-old bachelor who lives with his widowed mother and aunt in Wan Chai. Loy's mother, disappointed by his bachelorhood, often sets up match-making lunches for him with various girls. On the other side of Hennessy, orphaned Oi Lin lives with and works for her uncle and aunt in a bathroom appliances store on Lockhart Road. She is in a relationship with Xu, who is in prison. Her uncle, who disapproves of Xu, sets up a match-making lunch for her and Loy. Neither Loy or Oi Lin are attracted to one another, but the families continue to set up meetings for the two. After a few meetings and dates, the two eventually strike up a friendship after discovering a mutual interest in detective stories.

Both Loy and Oi Lin's families misunderstand the newfound friendship as romance and begin discussing wedding banquet arrangements. Loy explains to his mother this is not the case, and that Oi Lin has a boyfriend. Annoyed, Loy's mother calls Oi Lin's aunt and yells at her, calling her and her husband cheats. Oi Lin becomes upset with Loy, and breaks off their friendship. During this time she shares a flat with her boyfriend Xu, who has just been released from prison, and Loy gets back together with his ex-girlfriend Man Yu.

As time passes, Loy and Oi Lin grow increasingly uneasy about their relationships with Man Yu and Xu respectively. Loy tells Man Yu that he is finally in love with someone, but does not know if he is good enough for her. In the meantime, Oi Lin breaks up with Xu. Furious, Xu tracks down Loy and beats him up. Loy, though severely injured and no match for Xu, claims he is the better man because he can make Oi Lin smile. Xu finally understands, and leaves Oi Lin to get on with her life.

Loy's mother finally marries her accountant at the Cotton Tree Drive Marriage Registry to everyone's delight. After the wedding, Loy goes to the Cha Chaan Teng (where he'd previously had a date with Oi Lin) and finds Oi Lin. He joins her there, and the two enjoy the afternoon together.

 Hmm. how should i express my feeling after this movie? Its definitely not a romance movie; not a comedy... i can only categtorize it as a drama type. Love all of them, feel like all the actors & actresses have their own acting style, but all these styles just mix together and created a sparks~ A nice movie to watch...

 Story:

During the time Hong Kong was under British rule, there was a dark age when corruption and bribery were the order of the day. Chinese Chief Inspector Lak together with his gang, Unicorn, Gale and Gold laundered massive sums thereby making Hong Kong an empire of graft. Whenever they failed to apprehend the felons, Unicorn would get innocent victims, like Bong, to admit to the crimes.

Gale had nine "wives", all of them were actually mistresses of other constables, only Lily was loyal to him, but Gale was fascinated by the female drug lord, Rose. Lak was found having an affair with Unicorn's mistress. Unicorn beat up Lak and was demoted to stand guard at a reservoir.

In the early 1970s, the Governor of Hong Kong decided to clean up the police force. The ICAC was established, whose operation branch was headed by Yim. Bong and Unicorn also joined the ICAC. Despite threats of violence and intimidation, they managed to bring about the downfall of the empire of graft.

L² Comment:

 Love this movie very much, never know that Wang Jing can be good in directing a serious movie. The whole movie flows quite well and there is no any scene which i feel is an extra. Eason did a good job so as Tony, Anthony & Wang Jing who never failed to delivers the good acting. Natalie is surprisingly sexy in this movie and definitely KO Kate Tsui in this movie.

Reign Of Assassins 劍雨

Story:

In the legend, some said if you can have the whole corpse of a wushu senior dead body, you will able to learn his kungfu and become the best of the best. In the dark side, a group of people lead by LunZhuan is called Black Stone. They decided to get the corpse, which is with Feng's family. Drizzle and Lei & Sheng killed all Feng's family just to get the corpse. But after Drizzle get it, she flee away.

A monk used his life to advise Drizzle about what's right and wrong. Drizzle bored of her life and went for a plastic surgery to change her face. Drizzle name herself Jing and stay in a small village. She met a guy name Jiang who has feeling for her. Both of them quickly fall in love with each other and Jiang marry Jing and both of them stay in the village happily. Until one incident, Jing forced to use her kungfu to save her husband and she was tracked down by the Black Stone.

To replace Drizzle, LunZhuan get a lusty bitch Qing and taught her kungfu. Together with Qing, Lei & Sheng, they went to look for Jing. A fight has make Sheng wanted to get the corpse for himself to heal the wounds. After a terrible fight, LunZhuan killed Sheng. Lei was also wounded seriously and went home before he died.

Qing accused LunZhuan the real reason of getting the corpse. And it seems like LunZhuan is an eunuch and hope the new kungfu can help him to grow back his manhood. Qing decided to leave and pissed off LunZhuan, finally she was killed too.

LunZhuan told Jiang about Jing real background, and surprisingly Jiang was Feng. He was not died in that slaughtering and managed to change a new face for a new life. The two couple fought, Jing used medicine to fake Jiang's death. Jing faced LunZhuan by herself and manage to tackle him down while she too badly hurt. On the next day, Jiang managed to get away the drowsiness of the medicine and save Jing who's almost died.

L² Comment:

This was not my first choise in the cinema during that night, but wow, luckily me and my friends went for it instead :) A movie which not to be missed in this year. Splendid martial kungfu fighting wushu film which took your breath away.

Michelle Yeoh looks so young in this film, definitely have to thanks to the magical make up :) Still love her but kinda weird when its not her original voice in the movie. Barbie definitely show all of us how a bitch should be :) hehe, not bad though, but i believe it will be better if her sister is taking this part~

The whole movie is nice, storyline is good, a bit predictable in the end but still manage to stunt u with all the actions they have in the fighting.

Story:

In the heaven, every Gods & Goddesses are complaining about Dragon Conqueror of being disturbing and messed up everybody's work schedule. As a sidekick of Dragon Conqueror, Tiger Conqueror came together for the debate. When Guan Yin appeared, Dragon Conqueror agreed to take up the challenge to change 3 person's personality and characters from bad to good.

Before Dragon Conqueror went to be born in the human world, Guan Yin gave him a fan which will cast 3 magic per day because Dragon Conqueror will not be able to use his magic power when he is a human. But before he got the fan, the guard kicked him down to earth. Tiger Conqueror brought along the fan to him, but will become a senseless kid until night when the moon is covered by cloud. After a few try, the fan is finally passed to Dragon Conqueror whose human name is Lee.

Lee was strucked by lightning and managed to get back all his memories in heaven, he then become a monk with the name of Ji Gong. Ji Gong has to change 3 person whom is a beggar, a hooker & a bad ass. Beggar Xiang actually fall in love with hooker Jade who work for bad ass Tian. To help Xiang get out of his beggar's life, Ji Gong used magic to provide Xiang money, but in the end Xiang still can't live in a wealthy life. Xiang even wants others to call him beggar for the rest of his life.

Tian in another hand, work for the Black Demon to become immortal. He killed others and even sacrifice Jade for the public. Jade was tied up to be burnt to death but was safe by Ji Gong. Jade never feel a guy who treats him so well, she fall in love with Ji Gong. Ji Gong wanted Jade to change another career, but she still used her sex appeal to do her business in selling toufu. Xiang went to look for Jade but was humiliated by Tian, Xiang wanna remain his dignity in front of the woman he loves, and in the end he was killed. But before that, Xiang finally said his real name proudly.

On one night, Tian killed all her hookers to get enough blood for the Black Demon. After getting a harsh rape by Tian, Jade went to look for Ji Gong. Jade promise will not be a hooker if Ji Gong married her. But half way of their way to marriage, Ji Gong started to become wood, because marrying a human will make a God become a wood. Angry of Ji Gong on lying to her, Jade scratch her own face and forever swear that she will not get into marriage again. In the end, Jade work in her toufu business and never become a hooker again.

Tiger Conqueror came and help Ji Gong to get rid of the wooden body. Ji Gong fight against Tian and dig out his heart. Now only Tian realise Black Demon has change his heart into a rock heart without any sense and will not be able to live immortaly. Sad and dissapointed of what he has done earlier, Tian rather die and not born as a human in his next life.

Ji Gong get back to heaven and get promoted after what he has done on his bet.

L² Comment:

Among all Stephen Chow's movie, i like this the most. I believe this movie not only a comedy but also has a lot of moral hidden behind it. Though it only rank 12 place in 1993 HK movie blockbuster, but it still give a good impression to the audience i believe.

The movie is quite simple, nothing to heavy for an after-dinner view :)

The Way We Are 天水圍的日與夜

An and his mother live in Tin Shui Wai, the mother is working as the fruit seller of a supermarket while An is a form 5 student who is waiting for his result to go for form 6. Then the mother met granny who is a lonely old woman who stay in their same block. The granny also work in the supermarket as the vegetable seller.

The granny is very self defend and not willing to open herself to others. The mother then help her a few time and the granny become her friend later on. An's grandmother went hospitalize and An went visit her. The grandmother told An to be a good boy because his mother has been working her whole life as hard as she can but all her earning was used to support An's 2 uncle for study. An feel his mother is so grateful.

One fine day the mother accompany the granny went to visit her grandson but came back with disappointment. From that onwards they 2 woman become true friend and they stay happily together as neighbors.

Hmm~ the story line is a bit plain actually. You can say that it just tell out the living of 2 woman in the original life from Hong Kong. I can't feel the peak point of this film hence i just feel a bit boring though. Maybe i have put a very high expectation in this because this film has help the 2 ATV actresses won the best actress and best supporting actress in a few HK film Awards.
