The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader

Released Year: 2010
Directed by Michael Apted

Casted by:
Skandar Keynes as Edmund Pevensie
Georgie Henley as Lucy Pevensie
Ben Barnes as Prince Caspian
Will Poulter as Eustace Scrubb
Simon Pegg as Reepicheep
Liam Neeson as Aslan
Story:
The two youngest Pevensie children, Lucy and Edmund, are staying with their odious cousin Eustace Scrubb during the final days of the second World War. With their older brother Peter is studying for his university entrance exams and their older sister Susan is traveling through America with their parents, Edmund and Lucy feel they are being left out. But one day, after Edmund attempted to join the military, he, Lucy, and Eustace are drawn into the Narnian world through a picture of a ship at sea. The three children land in the ocean near the pictured vessel, the titular Dawn Treader, and are taken aboard.

The Dawn Treader is the first ship Narnia has seen in centuries. King Caspian has built it for his voyage to find the seven lords, good men whom his evil uncle Miraz banished when he usurped the throne many years earlier. His Telmarine ancestors had never built ships as they had always feared the sea.Three years have passed since peace has been established in Narnia, and Caspian has undertaken an oath to find the seven lost Lords of Narnia. Lucy and Edmund are delighted to be back in Narnia, but Eustace is less enthusiastic as he is at odds with the talking Mouse Reepicheep, who joined the crew in hopes to see Aslan's Country beyond the seas of the "utter East". Lucy asked if Caspian has found a queen in the three years they have been gone; Caspian smiles sadly and responds, "none like your sister".

They first make landfall in the Lone Islands, nominally Narnian territory but became a heaven for slave trade with Caspian, Lucy, Edmund and Eustace captured as merchandise. While imprisoned, Caspian meets one of the lost lords, Lord Bern, who reveals those not sold are sacrificed to a mysterious green mist he and the others were investigating. Caspian reclaims the Lone Islands and names Bern its duke while given one of the seven swords the lords possess. At the second island they visit, Lucy is abducted by the invisible Duffers who force her to enter their opressor's manor to recite a spell of visibility. Doing so, while ripping a page from the spell book that detailed an enchantment to make her like her sister, Lucy and the others learn the opressor actually cast the spell to protect the Duffers from the evil green mist that comes from Dark Island. To defeat the Dark Island, the crew must locate the other Swords of the Seven Lords and lay them in Aslan's Table on Ramandu's island. But during a storm after leaving the Duffers' island, Lucy nearly becomes victim to the mist's temptation of her lack of self-value as it tortures Caspian and Edmund with their own personal demons.

The group then made a stop at a volcanic island, with Eustace leaving the group to avoid participating in the work and finding a massive treasure that arouses his greed: filling his pockets with gold and jewels and puts on a large golden bracelet from a corpse. Elsewhere, Caspian and the Pevensies find a pool of water which turns everything immersed in it into gold, including Lord Restimar as they obtain his sword while almost tempted by the gold. Soon after as they are about to leave, the group encounters Eustace, now a dragon and the corpse near the treasure is revealed be Lord Octesian. Eventually they reach the Island of the Star, where they find the three remaining lost lords in enchanted sleep. Ramandu's daughter Liliandil tells them that the only way to awaken the three lords is by setting things right and reveals the last lord, Lord Rhoop, is on Dark Island itself.

At Dark Island, the group battle a sea serpent manifestion that it assumed from Edmund's thoughts as the fear crazed Rhoop stabbed Eustace with his sword. Flying out, Eustace is approached by Aslan who turns him back into a boy and sends him to place Rhoop's sword with the others. As Eustace suceeds in getting the seven swords together, Edumnd manages to overcome his own demons as he slays Dark Island's manifestion. Soon after, Caspian heads to the world's end with Reepicheep, Lucy, Edmund, and Eustace, venturing in a small boat through a sea of lilies until they reach a wall of water that extends into the sky. After Caspian decides not to go further out of realizing he needs to look after Narnia, Reepicheep gains Aslan's blessing to see his country, paddling a coracle up the waterfall to be never again seen in Narnia. Aslan then sends the children home, telling them that Edmund and Lucy will not return to Narnia and that they should learn to know him by another name in their own world. However, Eustace, now a much nicer person from his time in Narnia, could return someday.
L² Scored: 8.5/10

L² Comment:
I didn't read any of the novel from the chronicles, but i definitely love this movie :) This round they only left Edmund and Lucy go into the world of Narnia together with their arrogant cousin Eustace; Peter and Susan are too old to go into the fantasy world anymore. Most probably Eustace will be the new main character in Narnia film if they are planning to shoot more.

I kinda like Eustace this boy, his character is so attractive~ everything seems so funny when he's turn into dragon ~ lol... u guys must watch this film.

L² Comment:
Well, this is a fun film. What do u expect from a cheerleading movie? Of coz a bunch of young hot girl dancing and cheering around. And definitely you won't miss out a lot of naked scene with big/small booties jumping up and down :)

But this film is a bit confusing. The cheerleaders are mix of here and there, but who cares. The whole movie was ok, nothing too excited like the other cheerleader movie.

The Social Network

Released Year: 2010
Directed by David Fincher

Casted by:
Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg
Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin
Brenda Song as Christy Lee
Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker
Armie Hammer as Cameron Winklevoss/Tyler Winklevoss
Rooney Mara as Erica Albright
Max Minghella as Divya Narendra
Story:
In 2003, Harvard University student Mark Zuckerberg has the idea to create a website to rate the attractiveness of female Harvard undergraduates after his girlfriend Erica Albright breaks up with him. Mark hacks into the databases of various residence halls, downloads pictures and names of female students and, in a few hours, using an algorithm for ranking chess players supplied by his best friend Eduardo Saverin, he creates a website called "FaceMash", where male students can iteratively choose which of two girls presented at a time is more attractive.

Mark is punished with six months of academic probation after the traffic to the site brings down parts of Harvard's network, and becomes vilified among most of Harvard's female community. However, the popularity of "FaceMash" and the fact that he created it in one night, while drunk, brings him to the attention of Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss, identical twins and members of Harvard's rowing team, and their business partner Divya Narendra. As a result, he gains a job working for the Winklevoss twins as the programmer of their website, Harvard Connection.

Soon afterwards, Mark approaches his friend Eduardo and tells him of his idea for what he calls "Thefacebook", an online social networking website exclusive to Harvard University students. He explains this would let people share personal and social information securely. Eduardo agrees to help Mark, providing a thousand dollars to help start the site. Once complete, they distribute the link to Eduardo's connections at the Phoenix S-K final club, and it quickly becomes popular throughout the student body. When they learn of Thefacebook, the Winklevoss twins and Narendra believe that Zuckerberg stole their idea while simultaneously stalling on their website. Cameron and Divya want to sue Mark for intellectual property theft, but Tyler convinces them they can settle the matter as "Harvard gentlemen" without resorting to the courts.

At a lecture by Bill Gates, fellow Harvard University student Christy Lee introduces herself and her friend Alice to Eduardo and Mark. She asks that the boys "Facebook us", which impresses both of them. Christy invites them to a bar, where she and Eduardo have sex in the restroom. Mark later runs into his ex-girlfriend, who is not aware of The Facebook's existence because she is not a Harvard University student. Stung by this, Mark decides to expand the site to more schools.

As The Facebook grows in popularity, they expand to other schools in the Northeastern United States, while the Winklevoss twins and Narendra become angrier at seeing "their idea" advance without them. Tyler refuses to sue them, instead accusing Mark of violating the Harvard student Code of Conduct. Through their father's connections they arrange a meeting with Harvard President Larry Summers, who is dismissive and sees no potential value in either a disciplinary action or in Thefacebook website itself.

Through Christy Lee, now Eduardo's girlfriend, Eduardo and Mark arrange a meeting with Napster co-founder Sean Parker. When they meet, Eduardo becomes skeptical of Parker, noting his problematic personal and professional history. Mark, however, is impressed with Parker, since he presented a vision for Facebook similar to his own. Although no deals are reached, Parker suggests that they drop "The" from Thefacebook, to make it simply "Facebook".

Mark moves the company's base of operation to Palo Alto, at Parker's suggestion, while Eduardo remains in New York seeking advertising support, When Eduardo visits from New York, he is angered to find that Parker is living at the house they have rented and is making business decisions for Facebook. After an argument with Mark, Eduardo freezes the company's bank account and returns to New York. Upon returning, Christy takes Eduardo to task about his Facebook profile, which still lists him as "single", and sets fire to a scarf he gave to her as a gift. While Eduardo extinguishes the fire, Mark reveals on the phone that they have secured money from an angel investor through Parker's contacts. As a result of Christy's jealousy, Eduardo ends his relationship with her.

Meanwhile in England, while competing in the Henley Royal Regatta for Harvard, the Winklevoss twins discover that Facebook has expanded to a number of universities there and decide to sue. Eduardo has also discovered that the deal he signed with Parker's investors allows them to dilute his share of the company from thirty-four percent to three hundredths of a percent, while maintaining the ownership percentage of all other parties. He confronts his erstwhile friend Mark and announces his intention to sue him. Later that night, Parker, along with a number of Facebook interns, are arrested for possession of cocaine during a party thrown on the occasion of Facebook's 1 millionth member.

The framing device throughout the film shows Mark testifying in depositions in two lawsuits: one filed by the Winklevoss twins, and the other filed by Eduardo. In the final scene, a junior lawyer for the defense informs Mark they will be settling with Eduardo, since the sordid details of Facebook's founding and Mark's personality will make a jury highly unsympathetic. The film ends with Mark sending a friend request to his former girlfriend Erica on Facebook, and refreshing the page every few seconds waiting for a response.
L² Scored: 8/10

L² Comment:
Well, i never really wanted to watch this movie, but luckily i did :) My lovable Andrew Garfield is in here, and Armie Hammer is definitely hot !!! Armie acted as twins and Josh Pencer as his side-body.

Though this film is based on the Facebook's founders story, but the production team add a lil bit of drama inside to spice up the whole movie, which i think is good enough.

And lastly, Ms Brenda Song is so damn pretty :)

Lions For Lambs

Released Year: 2007
Directed by Robert Redford

Casted by:
Robert Redford as Professor Stephen Malley
Meryl Streep as Janine Roth
Tom Cruise as Senator Jasper Irving
Andrew Garfield as Todd Hayes
Michael Peña as Ernest Rodriguez
Derek Luke as Arian Finch
Peter Berg as Lt. Col. Falco
Story:
Two determined students at a West Coast university, Arian and Ernest, at the urging of their idealistic professor, Dr. Malley, attempt to do something important with their lives. They make the bold decision to commission in the army to fight in Afghanistan after graduating from college.

Dr. Malley also attempts to reach talented and privileged, but disaffected, student Todd Hayes who is not at all like Arian and Ernest. He is naturally bright, comes from a privileged background, but has apparently slipped into apathy upon being disillusioned at the present state of affairs. Now he devotes most of his time to extra-curricular activities like his role as president of his fraternity. Malley tests him by offering a choice between a respectable grade of 'B' in the class with no additional work required, or a final opportunity to re-engage with the material of the class and "do something."

Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., a charismatic Republican presidential hopeful, Senator Jasper Irving, has invited liberal TV journalist Janine Roth to his office to announce a new war strategy in Afghanistan: the use of small units to seize strategic positions in the mountains ("forward operating points") before the Taliban can occupy them. The senator hopes that Roth's positive coverage will help convince the public that the plan is sound.

Roth has her doubts and fears she is being asked to become an instrument of government propaganda. Near the end of the film, she informs her commercially-minded boss of her plans to call out the Senator's new strategy for what she feels is a ploy, but is shot down. Ultimately, Irving's version of the story is run without the critical interaction. It is not clear whether Roth gave in and toed the company line or if she quit her job.

In Afghanistan, a helicopter carrying Arian and Ernest is hit by Taliban soldiers. Ernest falls out and Arian jumps after him. Ernest's leg is badly wounded and he suffers a compound fracture, rendering him immobile as the Taliban arrive. After a drawn-out gunfight, the U.S. soldiers run out of ammunition. Rather than getting captured, Arian helps Ernest stand up, facing the enemies and turning their empty weapons against them, an action which prompts the Taliban to kill them. The unit commanders attempt a rescue of the downed soldiers, sending A-10 Warthogs, but the weather, time and distance interfere.

Hayes is then seen watching television with a friend. A reporter is discussing a singer's private life, while below runs a strip announcing Senator Irving's new military plan for Afghanistan. He suddenly falls quiet, contemplating the choices with which his professor had left him.
L² Scored: 2/10

L² Comment:
Robert Redford + Meryl Streep + Tom Cruise = Good Movie. How true is it? I should say not at all. I don't know how Matthew Michael Carnahan wrote this story, its so disappointing compare to the beginning of this film. When you thought, hmmm~ 3 different situations happened at different places, how interesting. But yawn yawn yawn as the movie going on.

A film is good to make you sleep.

Case 39

Released Year: 2010
Directed by Christian Alvart

Casted by:
Renée Zellweger as Emily Jenkins
Jodelle Ferland as Lillith Sullivan
Ian McShane as Detective Mike Barron
Bradley Cooper as Douglas J. Ames
Callum Keith Rennie as Edward Sullivan
Kerry O'Malley as Margaret Sullivan
Story:
Social worker Emily Jenkins is assigned to investigate the family of 10-year-old Lillith Sullivan , as her grades have declined and an emotional rift with her parents has emerged. Emily suspects that the parents have been abusing Lillith, and proposes to her department to take the child away from her parents' custody. Emily's fears are confirmed when Lillith's parents try to kill her by roasting her in the oven at their home. Emily saves Lillith with the help of Detective Mike Barron. Lillith is originally sent to a children's home but she begs Emily to look after her instead. With the agreement of the board, Emily is assigned to take care of Lillith until a suitable foster family comes along. In the meantime, Lillith's parents are placed in a mental institution.

Not too long after Lillith moves in, strange things begin to happen around Emily. Two weeks later another of Jenkins's cases, a boy named Diego, suddenly murders his parents, and Barron informs Emily that somebody phoned Diego from her house the night before the crime. As she is suspected of involvement in the incident, Lillith undergoes a psychiatric evaluation by Emily's best friend, Douglas J. Ames. During the session, however, Lillith turns the evaluation around, asking Douglas what his fears are and subtly threatening him. That night while studying he receives a strange phone call in his apartment, Douglas is panicked by the sight of a mass of hornets coming out of his body and kills himself in his bathroom by snapping his own neck.

Emily gradually becomes fearful of having Lillith in her home, so she heads to the mental asylum for answers from Lillith's parents. They tell her that Lillith is a demon who feeds on feelings, and that they tried to kill her in an attempt to save themselves. Lillith's father tells Emily that the only way to kill Lillith is to get her to sleep. Shortly after Emily leaves the asylum, both parents die in unusual circumstances. Lillith's mother is imaginatively fatally burnt and her father is stabbed in the eye with a fork.

Barron initially thinks Emily should seek psychiatric help, but is later convinced when he receives a strange phone call in his home from Emily's cellphone, which is being used by Lillith. He arms himself at the police precinct to aid Emily in handling Lillith. However, he inadvertently shoots himself in the head with a shotgun when Lillith makes him imagine he is being attacked by dogs. That night, Emily has Lillith drink tea spiked with sedative. While Lillith is asleep, Emily sets fire to her house, hoping to get rid of her. However, the girl escapes unharmed from the burning house.

The police offer to escort Emily and Lillith to a temporary place to sleep. As Emily is following the police cars, she suddenly takes a different route and drives her car at a high speed, hoping to bring fear to Lillith. She then drives the car off a pier. As the car sinks, Emily struggles to lock Lillith (now in the form of her demon self) in the trunk by folding the rear seats against her. Emily then exits the car, but as she swims away, Lillith grabs her leg after punching a hole through the car's left tail light section.

Emily struggles to break free until Lillith finally lets go as the car continues to sink. She climbs back ashore, relieved to be rid of Lillith.

Well, this film has been on shooting since 2006 and a fire burn and destroy the scene set, but luckily no one was hurt. Then the movie completed roughly at somewhere around 2008. However, due to unknown reason, this movie has been delay for quite sometime until it hit the cinema in 2010 Oct.

Of course, being a fans of Renee and Bradley, i love this film to death. But the storyline is kinda predictable. The only scary and a bit of horrify scene is the one when Lilith's parents try to burn her in an oven, the rest will be ok ok only.

Though it receive a lot of negative critics from everywhere, but i think u can try to watch it just for once :)

Well, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer never fail to make us laugh~ this is so funny and yet its so based on the Twilight Saga series. Matt Lanter is so damn hot, really gonna watch his 90210. Heard that he's not bad in that series :)
