 Story:
In 1818, Abraham Lincoln lives in Indiana with his parents, Nancy and Thomas, who works at a plantation owned by Jack Barts. There, Lincoln befriends a young African American boy, William Johnson, and intervenes when he sees Johnson being beaten by a slaver. Because of his son's actions, Thomas is fired by Barts, who demands that Thomas pay his debts to him. When Thomas refuses, Barts warns him that there is more than one way to collect a debt. That night, Lincoln sees Barts breaking into his house and attacking Nancy. Thomas finds her ill the following day, and she dies shortly afterwards. He blames Barts, and tells Lincoln that he poisoned Nancy.

Nine years later, after his father's death, Lincoln decides to get revenge against Barts. He attacks Barts at the docks, but Barts, who is actually a vampire, overpowers him. However, before Barts can kill him, Lincoln is rescued by Henry Sturgess. At his mansion, Sturgess reveals that vampires exist, and offers to teach Lincoln how to become a vampire hunter. Lincoln accepts and, after a decade of training, travels to Springfield, Illinois in 1837, where he begins to slay vampires. During his training, Lincoln is told by Sturgess that the vampires that live in America descend from Adam, a powerful vampire who owns a plantation in New Orleans with his sister, Vadoma. Lincoln also learns that vampires take advantage of the slave trade by using slaves as their food source. Sturgess informs Lincoln of the vampires' weakness to silver, and presents Lincoln with a silver pocket watch.

In Springfield, Lincoln befriends shopkeeper Joshua Speed, and meets Mary Todd, who is also being courted by the politician Stephen A. Douglas. Though he is warned by Sturgess not to form any close relationships, Lincoln eventually begins having romantic feelings for Mary. Barts is one of the vampires living in Springfield, and upon learning of Lincoln's presence, he begins to target Mary.

One day, Lincoln receives a visit from William Johnson, who now helps freed slaves to escape through the Underground Railroad. Johnson, a free slave, asks for Lincoln's help to evade bounty hunters who believe Johnson is an escaped slave. Lincoln and Johnson defeat the bounty hunters, and Lincoln later tells Mary what happened. She encourages him to fight for his ideals, and Lincoln begins to speak against slavery. Sturgess visits him, telling him to focus on the mission he was trained. He then provides the location of Barts.

Lincoln confronts his sworn enemy at a farm, and before dying of his wounds, Barts reveals that Sturgess is a vampire as well. Lincoln confronts Sturgess, who reveals that, several years ago, he and his lover were attacked and bit by Adam. Because Sturgess' soul wasn't pure, he became a vampire, and that prevented him from harming his "creator" or any other vampire since as Adam stated, "Only the living can kill the dead". Since then, Sturgess has been training vampire hunters in an effort to destroy Adam.

Disappointed, Lincoln decides to abandon his mission. However, Adam learns of his activities and captures Johnson in order to lure Lincoln into a trap at his plantation in New Orleans. Lincoln tells Speed the truth and they travel to Adam's estate, where Lincoln is captured. Adam then tries to recruit Lincoln, stating how he plans to take over the United States and turn it into a nation of the undead, and that only more moderate vampires like Sturgess stand in his way. Speed arrives, rescuing Lincoln and Johnson, and the three escape back to Ohio. Lincoln's watch, however, is left behind and found by Adam.

In Springfield, Lincoln marries Mary and hires Speed as his assistant and Johnson as his valet, allowing Johnson to continue his duties with the Underground Railroad undercover. He then begins his political career, campaigning to abolish slavery. Sturgess warns Lincoln that slaves are what keeps vampires under control, and if Lincoln interferes with that, the vampires will be forced to act, but Lincoln ignores his warnings.

Lincoln is then elected as the 16th President of the United States of America. He moves to the White House with Mary, where they have a son, William Wallace Lincoln, and where he eventually signs the Emancipation Proclamation. In 1862, Willie is bitten by Vadoma, who leaves the watch behind to mock Lincoln. Sturgess offers to turn Willie into a vampire in order to save him, and although Mary wants him to, Lincoln stops him. Following their son's death, Lincoln is blamed by his wife.

With the war turning in the Union's favor, Confederate President Jefferson Davis convinces Adam to deploy his vampires on the front lines. Sturgess tries to convince Lincoln to offer Adam a truce, but Lincoln refuses, and is informed that Adam's confederate army has decimated Lincoln's union forces in the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg. Lincoln then decides to confiscate all the silverware in the area and have it melted in order to produce silver bullets and weapons for the soldiers to use in the battlefield. Speed, believing that Lincoln will lead them to death, betrays him and informs Adam that Lincoln will transport the silver to Gettysburg in a train.

Adam and Vadoma watch as Lincoln reconciles with Mary and then follow him to the train, containing the new weapons for the Union troops. Along the way, Adam and Vadoma encounter Mary, who appears to be traveling to a safer location. He orders Vadoma to spare Mary in order to rendezvous with Lincoln's train. Mary continues on and is joined by a contingent of free slaves carrying unknown parcels and crates. Lincoln, Sturgess and Johnson are attacked by Adam, Vadoma and other vampires, who have set a fire to the upcoming train trestle. Speed, his betrayal a ruse, damages the train's controls, hoping that it will crash into the flame engulfed trestle and destroy the vampires. Adam kills Speed and fights Lincoln before being attacked by Sturgess. During the fight, Adam learns that there is no silver in the train, only rocks. Lincoln reveals that he lured Adam into a trap and stabs Adam with the weaponized watch, made of silver, killing him. Lincoln, Johnson and Sturgess then jump out of the train before it falls off the burning trestle and explodes. Meanwhile, Mary and the ex-slaves have transported the silver to Gettysburg through the Underground Railroad. Vadoma, having escaped the train, tries to attack Mary but Mary shoots her down with a rifle loaded with Willie's silver toy sword.

The now leaderless Confederate vampires stage a massive assault and are met head on by the Union soldiers. Armed with their silver ammunition and bayonets the Union soldiers destroy the vampires and free America from their threat.

A few months later, on April 14, 1865, Sturgess reveals that the few remaining vampires have fled to other countries and congratulates Lincoln on the victory. Sturgess tries to convince Lincoln, without success, to allow him to turn Lincoln into a vampire so that Lincoln can become immortal and continue to help Sturgess to accomplish great things in the future. Lincoln is called by Mary, who waits by their carriage, to hurry and leaves Sturgess for the theater. That night, although not shown, Lincoln is killed by John Wilkes Booth.

Over a century later, in modern times, Sturgess locates a young man at a bar in Washington, D.C. and approaches him in the same way he once approached Lincoln, revealing that he's still alive and training vampire hunters.

L² Comment:
Tim Burton is part of the producer team which make us no doubt that Lincoln become a vampire hunter. If just think it as a movie, i love it a lot, i always like the movie of hunting vampires and slash them off. The whole movie is nice in it pace and everything goes smooth.

But my brain keep on remind me what the real Lincoln was. So my mind keep fighting with me in the cinema while watching this movie. A president of state is actually a vampire hunter? Lol... WTF !!!
