Story:

Three years into its five year mission, the USS Enterprise arrives at Starbase Yorktown, a massive space station, to resupply the ship and shore leave for her tired crew. Struggling to find continued meaning in their mission, Captain James Kirk has applied for a promotion to Vice Admiral. He recommends Spock as the new captain of the Enterprise. Meanwhile, Hikaru Sulu reunites with his husband and daughter, Spock and Nyota Uhura have amicably ended their relationship, and Montgomery Scott works to keep the ship operational. Spock also receives word from New Vulcan that Ambassador Spock has passed away.

An escape pod drifts out of a nearby nebula. The survivor, Kalara, claims her ship is stranded on Altamid, a planet in the nebula, and the Enterprise is dispatched on a rescue mission. The rescue turns into an ambush when the Enterprise is easily overwhelmed by a massive swarm of ships and is quickly torn apart. The swarm's alien commander, Krall and his crew board the ship, and unsuccessfully search for an alien artifact called the Abronath that Kirk had obtained on a recent mission. The swarm demolishes the Enterprise, and the saucer section crashes to the planet as the crew abandons ship in escape pods.

On the planet's surface, Sulu, Uhura and other surviving crew are captured by Krall. Kirk and navigator Pavel Chekov, accompanied by Kalara, find the wreckage of the saucer section. Kalara is discovered to be Krall's ally when she attempts to retrieve the Abronath for him. To escape Krall's soldiers, Kirk activates the still functional boosters, causing the saucer to lurch forward and killing Kalara as it flips over on itself. Meanwhile, a wounded Spock and Dr. Leonard McCoy search for the other survivors. Spock tells McCoy that he intends to leave Starfleet to continue the late Ambassador Spock's work on New Vulcan. Meanwhile, Scott is rescued by Jaylah, a scavenger who previously escaped Krall's encampment. She takes him to her makeshift home, the wreck of the USS Franklin, an early Starfleet vessel that went missing over a hundred years ago. With Scott's help, the ship is repaired and powered back up. Scott, Kirk, Chekov, McCoy and Spock are reunited and use the ship as a base. The group plot to raid Krall's camp to rescue the crew and transport them to the Franklin, then escape the planet. Meanwhile, Krall coerces a member of Kirk's crew to hand over the Abronath that she had kept hidden for Kirk. The Abronath is the missing half of an ancient bioweapon, created by the planet's original inhabitants, that can disintegrate a humanoid lifeform in seconds. With the device now complete, Krall intends to attack Yorktown and kill its inhabitants, and, using its advanced technology, go on to attack the Federation. Kirk and the others free the crew as Krall launches from the planet with the bioweapon, leading his fleet to Yorktown.

The Enterprise crew pursues Krall in the Franklin. Scott transports Spock and McCoy into one of Krall's drone ships. After ejecting the pilots they discover how the drone vessels coordinate. Krall's communications is disrupted with VHF transmissions, causing mass confusion that results in the fleet's destruction. Krall and his three remaining officers crash in Yorktown. As Krall escapes into the city, Uhura and Kirk discover from the Franklin's logs that 'Krall' is actually Balthazar Edison, the original captain of the Franklin. A pre-Federation human soldier, Edison became disillusioned after peace was established throughout the Alpha Quadrant powers - believing other alien races will always be potential threats. When he and his two remaining crew were stranded on Altamid by a rogue wormhole, he believed the Federation had deliberately abandoned him. Having prolonged their lives with the vampiric technology of the planet's extinct natives (at the cost of their human biology), and re-purposing that species' dormant drone workers into the swarm, he now plans to destroy the Federation in revenge. Kirk pursues Krall, who has consumed enough human life energy to pass as a human, into the Yorktown's ventilation system, where Krall activates the bioweapon. Before the bioweapon can be unleashed, Kirk causes the weapon and Krall to be ejected into the vacuum of space, where Krall is consumed by the bioweapon. Spock and McCoy save Kirk seconds before he is also blown into space.

Kirk is offered the promotion to Vice Admiral, but he opts to remain as captain. Spock chooses to remain in Starfleet and resumes his relationship with Uhura, while Jaylah is accepted into Starfleet Academy. As the crew celebrates Kirk's birthday, they view the construction of their new ship, the USS Enterprise-A.

This is the third movie of Star Trek's Reboot Series... Now only i realize that I have never watch the first & second movie from this series, what a shame :p Not only this, I didn't even watch any single movie of The Next Generation Series; while only the first two movie of The Original Series were watched and blogged at here...Under this kind of circumstances, I cannot call myself as the "fans" lol~ Well, overall the movie is nice and the excitement keeps on coming without a second to lose. I think I better buck up my movies lately or else I will be very outdated dy...

Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan

Story:

The film opens with the Vulcan Lieutenant Saavik in command of the starship USS Enterprise. The vessel is on a rescue mission to save the crew of a damaged ship in the Neutral Zone along the border with Klingon space when it is attacked by Klingon cruisers and critically damaged. The "attack" is revealed to be a training exercise known as the "Kobayashi Maru"; a no-win scenario designed to test the character of Starfleet officers. Admiral James T. Kirk oversees the simulator session of Captain Spock's trainees.

The USS Reliant is on a mission to search for a lifeless planet for testing of the Genesis Device, a torpedo that reorganizes matter to create habitable worlds for colonization but can also destroy planets. Reliant officers Commander Pavel Chekov and Captain Clark Terrell beam down to the surface of a possible candidate planet, Ceti Alpha VI, where they are captured by genetically engineered tyrant Khan Noonien Singh. The Enterprise discovered Khan's ship adrift in space fifteen years previously; Kirk exiled Khan and his fellow supermen from 20th century Earth to Ceti Alpha V. Khan reveals that after they were marooned, Ceti Alpha VI exploded, destroying Ceti Alpha V's ecosystem and shifting its orbit. Khan blames Kirk for the death of his wife and plans to avenge her. He implants Chekov and Terrell with indigenous, mind-controlling eels that enter the ears of their victims and uses the officers to gain control of the Reliant. Learning of Genesis, Khan attacks Space Station Regula I where the device is being developed by Kirk's former lover, Dr. Carol Marcus, and their son, David.

The Enterprise embarks on a training voyage under the command of Spock. Kirk takes command of the Enterprise after the ship receives a distress call from Regula I. En route, the Enterprise is ambushed by the Reliant. The attack cripples the Enterprise and many of its trainees are killed. A transmission between the two ships reveals Khan knows of the Genesis Device and wants all materials related to the project sent to him. Kirk stalls for time and uses Reliant's security codes to remotely shut down their shields, allowing the Enterprise to counter-attack. Khan is forced to retreat and effect repairs, while the Enterprise limps to Regula I. Kirk, McCoy and Saavik beam to the station where they find Terrell and Chekov along with slaughtered members of the Genesis Project. The team finds the remaining scientists, including Carol and David, hidden deep inside the planetoid of Regula. Using Terrell and Chekov as spies, Khan steals the Genesis Device and orders them to kill Kirk; Terrell resists the eel's influence and kills himself while Chekov faints. Though Khan believes his foe stranded on Regula I, Kirk and Spock use a coded message to arrange a rendezvous. Kirk then directs the Enterprise into the nearby Mutara Nebula; static discharges from the nebula render both ships' defensive shields useless and compromise targeting systems, making the Enterprise and Reliant evenly matched. Kirk exploits Khan's inexperience in space combat to critically disable the Reliant.

Mortally wounded, Khan activates the Genesis Device, which will reorganize all matter in the nebula including the Enterprise. Though Kirk's crew detects the activation of the Genesis Device and the Enterprise attempts to move out of range using impulse engines, with the warp drive damaged they will not be able to escape the nebula in time. Spock leaves the bridge and goes to the engine room to restore the warp drive. When McCoy tries to prevent Spock's exposure to high levels of radiation, he incapacitates the doctor and performs a mind meld, telling him to "Remember". Spock restores power to the warp drive and the Enterprise escapes the explosion. Kirk arrives in the engine room, where Spock dies of radiation poisoning. The explosion of the Genesis Device causes a planet to coalesce out of the nebula. A space burial is held in the Enterprise's torpedo room and Spock's coffin is shot into orbit around the newly formed planet. The crew leaves the planet to pick up the Reliant's marooned crew from Ceti Alpha V. In the final scene Spock's coffin is seen to have soft-landed on the planet. Spock narrates Star Trek's "Where no man has gone before" monologue as the view moves forward into a field of stars.

I'm not gonna lie, i'm really think the second movie of star trek is as boring as the 1st one. No offense to all star trek's fans, but 2 is the most i will score, same as the first movie. The extra 0.5 is for Ricardo who looks kinda hot with his big chest hanging out like that~ :P

Story:

A Starfleet monitoring station detects an alien force, hidden in a massive cloud of energy, moving through space towards Earth. The cloud destroys three Klingon warships and the monitoring station en route. On Earth, the starship Enterprise is undergoing a major refit; its former commander, James T. Kirk, has been promoted to Admiral and works in San Francisco as Chief of Starfleet Operations. Starfleet dispatches Enterprise to investigate the cloud entity as the ship is the only one in intercept range, requiring its new systems to be tested in transit.

Kirk takes command of the ship citing his experience, angering Captain Willard Decker, who had been overseeing the refit as its new commanding officer. Testing of Enterprise's new systems goes poorly; two officers, including the science officer, are killed by a malfunctioning transporter, and improperly calibrated engines almost destroy the ship. The tension between Kirk and Decker increases when the admiral demonstrates his unfamiliarity with Enterprise. Spock arrives as replacement science officer, explaining that while on his home world undergoing a ritual to purge all emotion, he felt a consciousness that he believes emanates from the cloud.

The Enterprise intercepts the energy cloud and is attacked by an alien vessel within. A probe appears on the bridge, attacks Spock and abducts the navigator, Ilia. She is replaced by a robotic doppelgänger, a probe sent by "V'Ger" to study the crew. Decker is distraught over the loss of Ilia, with whom he had a romantic history. He becomes troubled as he attempts to extract information from the doppelgänger, which has Ilia's memories and feelings buried within. Spock takes a spacewalk to the alien vessel's surface and attempts a telepathic mind meld with it. In doing so, he learns that the vessel is V'Ger itself, a living machine.

At the heart of the massive ship, V'Ger is revealed to be Voyager 6, a 20th-century Earth space probe believed lost. The damaged probe was found by an alien race of living machines that interpreted its programming as instructions to learn all that can be learned, and return that information to its creator. The machines upgraded the probe to fulfill its mission, and on its journey the probe gathered so much knowledge that it achieved consciousness. Spock realizes that V'Ger lacks the ability to give itself a focus other than its original mission; having learned what it could on its journey home, it finds its existence empty and without purpose. Before transmitting all its information, V'Ger insists that the Creator come in person to finish the sequence.

Realizing that the machine wants to merge with its creator, Decker offers himself to V'Ger; he merges with the Ilia probe and V'Ger, creating a new form of life that disappears into another dimension. With Earth saved, Kirk directs Enterprise out to space for future missions

I really don't know how to comment this, but seriously, i never been a fans of Star Trek series until i watch the 2009 movie. Thought it was quite good then so i decided to dig out all these old movies for a watch. But yawn, it was not easy to watch the whole movie without feeling bored.

Well, the graphic is good back at that time coz its 1979 anyway. But beside that, the pace is slow and their expression is kinda stiff :P lol~
