 Story:

Du Shi Niang is the famous hooker but she fall in love with Jia, a useless guy who came for her beauty and not able to live based on his own ability. When mamasan challenge Jia to leave or buy back Niang, he felt defeated but Niang has her own way out. 

Following Jia back to his hometown, Jia sold Niang out to a rich man which make Niang disappointed. She show Jia how rich she was but dump them all into the lake. In the end, she herself jump into the lake as well. Later that day she swim back to find mamasan and promise herself that she will never fall in love again.

L² Comment:

Not a bad movie, its actually based on an old old novel last time. The only disappointing point is that both Daniel Wu & Michelle Reis don't really speaks good cantonese and their acting are not that good as well. Beside Lydia Sum, the whole movie is consider dull and boring. Luckily with Michelle & Daniel's look + Lydia good comedy skill, this movie is still watch-able~

 Story:

 Ching Fong-Tin goes to Russia to steal goods from the Russian soldiers. Unfortunately he is caught and the soldiers make him strip his clothes down to his underwear. They force him to wear a brassiere and the head of a mop as a wig, and he is made to dance for their amusement. However, he makes his escape, grabbing his grenades as he goes, and throws one into the cabin. Fook Loi catches Ching and lectures him about his crimes. Ching tries to escape, but in the scuffle, he and Fook end up rolling into a snowball. In the final moments after they both got out of the snowball, Fook tries to look for Ching and is taken by surprise when he jumps down from a tree, grabs his clothes and rushes off back to his hometown.

Bandits dressed in police uniforms set fire to a large building. Tsao Cheuk Kin and his fire team race to the scene and save a fat lady and a blind woman. While the fire rages, the bandits rob the town bank, but the manager manages to alert the townfolk before they can escape and two of the bandits are jailed. With the loss of money stolen by the bandits, Mayor Yi gives a negative speech. In contrast, Tsao encourages the townfolk and he is given the job of mayor and head of the town's security.

Ching and his assistant move from a hotel to his home town, arriving with a car full of women. Ching's ambition is to get money into the town, so his hotel is cleaned up and redressed. A train is due to pass, carrying numerous passengers, including some criminals and some Japanese tourists. In order to bring custom to his hotel, Ching hatches a plan to force the train to stop at the town. He heads towards the railway station on his motorcycle and sidecar, but is chased away by Tsao riding on horseback. Ching swings a tree branch, which knocks Tsao from his horse. Ching takes the horse and rides the rest of the way. As he prepares the dynamite, Ching is discovered, and ends up fighting with Tsao. After winning, Ching continues to wait for the train.

As the train travels through the country, passenger Han sneaks back and forth on roof of the train between his fat wife and his beautiful mistress. The bandits from the town try to board the train. The first bandit, with his body covered in magnets inadvertenly gets stuck to the train, whilst the second second bandit using the rope to climb aboard. However, instead of lassooing the train, his rope catches Han, who is forced to hang on for dear life, whilst the bandit runs alongside the train. The remaining bandits struggle with a cart, but finally manage to get on board. When the train reaches the station, Ching blows the dynamite, derailing the train.

As Ching had planned, the passengers spend time in his home town awaiting the train's repair. In the hotel, the criminals devise a plan to get into the room housing Han's mistress, posing as Japanese tourists. Unfortunately they don't don't know the language, and are forced to hide when the train captain and his mistress enter the room. After the train captain goes into the bathroom, the bad guys try to sneak out quietly, but soon have to hide again. Han climbs down the hotel roof, inadvertently scaring the train captain's mistress. The commotion alerts his wife, who accuses him of cheating. To explain the situation, he claims that he is actually an agent spying on the Japanese, and the bad guys use this excuse to come out of hiding.

when Ching asks Chi to distract Tsao she comes with all sorts of things most of them saying that she loves him. Tsao then tells Chi that he's busy and can't dream with her and leaves. Chi captures up with him and asks him not to go and Tsao swings his hat to the side and takes Chi into his hands and starts snogging her. Tsao then says something that makes Chi want to kiss him more.When Chi wants to kiss him more he signals his helpers to take his place and unfortunately Chi opens her eyes and runs away.

Fook Loi returns from Russia and uses Tsao to capture Ching and put him into jail. At night, Siu-Hon and her group of ladies free Ching and allow him to make up his mind. The rest of the bad guys arrive on horseback, storming the town and capturing the Japanese tourists.

After Ching makes up his mind, he comes back to his hometown and free the bandits, plus Fook, Tsao and Siu-Hon. He decides to turf the bad guys out of town, beginning by using a chaingun, and later using martial arts. A huge fight breaks out, until the bad guys are dealt with and Ching and Tsao finally take back the map from the Japanese.

L² Comment: 

With the help of a lot of superstar, Sammo Hung film this action comedy film easily. But still the action and building up the small village is not an easy job i believe. The whole movie came in a nice pace and not a single one of the scene is bored. The only flaw might be the length of the movie is not long enough...

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind 風の谷のナウシカ

Story:

One thousand years have passed since the Seven Days of Fire, an apocalyptic war that destroyed human civilization and gave birth to the vast Toxic Jungle, a forest swarming with giant mutant insects in which everything is lethal to humans. Scattered settlements exist wherever the Toxic Jungle relents. The Valley of the Wind is one such settlement. The Valley's settlers have a prophecy stating that a warrior "clad in blue and surrounded by fields of gold" will one day reunite man and nature.

Nausicaä, the agile, cheerful and peace-loving princess of the Valley of the Wind, has managed to befriend the Toxic Jungle. She explores the Jungle and communicates with its creatures, including the gigantic, armored trilobite-like creatures called Ohmu. She often travels on a compact jet-powered glider in order to find out about the origins of the Toxic Jungle, understand its nature, and even find a cure for both humans and the world.

One night, during a visit by the Valley's swordsmaster, Lord Yupa, a large fixed-wing cargo aircraft from the kingdom of Tolmekia crashes in the Valley. Nausicaä tries to rescue an onboard passenger, the wounded Princess Lastelle of Pejite, who pleads with Nausicaä to destroy the cargo before dying. The cargo is an embryo of a Giant Warrior, lethal genetically engineered bioweapons that caused the Seven Days of Fire. The invading Tolmekians seized the embryo and Lastelle. The Tolmekian plane, however, was attacked by mutant insects before it crashed. One of the insects then emerges unscathed from the wreckage and seems poised to attack the frightened villagers, but Nausicaä uses a small bullroarer to create a high-pitched tune that helps calm it and after mounting her jet-glider, guides the insect out of the village to safety.

The next morning, Tolmekian troops, led by Princess Kushana and Officer Kurotowa, subjugate the Valley and secure the Giant Warrior embryo, killing Nausicaä's sick father in the process. Kushana plans to mature the Giant Warrior and then use it to burn the Toxic Jungle, even though history warns of fatal consequences. Her father's death drives Nausicaä berserk and she kills several Tolmekian soldiers before the fight is halted by Yupa. Kushana announces her decision to leave for Pejite along with five hostages from the Valley and Nausicaä. Before they leave, Nausicaä's master discovers her secret garden of jungle plants. According to Nausicaä, plants that grow in clean soil and water are not toxic. The jungle's soil, however, has long been tainted by man.

Kushana and her detachment never reach their destination, as an agile Pejite interceptor obliterates the entire Tolmekian wing before being shot down. Nausicaä, her fellow hostages and Kushana crash-land in the jungle, disturbing several Ohmu, which Nausicaä soothes. She then leaves to rescue Asbel, the Pejite pilot and the twin brother of Lastelle, but both are swallowed by quicksand and end up in a non-toxic world below the jungle. Nausicaä realizes that the jungle plants purify the polluted topsoil, producing clean water that remains hidden underground.

Nausicaä and Asbel return to Pejite, only to find it ravaged by the insects. Pejite survivors, boarding a single plane, reveal that they lured the creatures to eradicate the Tolmekians and are doing the same in the Valley to recapture the Giant Warrior. To prevent any intervention, they take Nausicaä captive, knocking Asbel out in the process. Later, with the help of Asbel and his mother, Nausicaä flees on a glider. While flying home, Nausicaä finds a team of Pejites using a wounded baby Ohmu to lead scores of enraged Ohmu into the Valley. Tolmekians deploy tanks and later the Giant Warrior against the herd to no avail: tanks prove too weak and the Giant Warrior, hatched ahead of time, soon disintegrates.

Nausicaä liberates the baby Ohmu and gains its trust; in the process, her pink dress becomes stained by the Ohmu's blue blood, turning completely blue. Both land in front of the herd, but are run over. The herd, however, calms down, and the Ohmu use their golden tentacles to heal Nausicaä's wounded body. Nausicaä awakens and starts to dance on top of the hundreds of glowing golden tentacles. Thus Nausicaä, "clad in blue, surrounded by the fields of gold" fulfills the prophecy. The Ohmu and Tolmekians leave the Valley afterwards, while the surviving Pejites remain with the Valley people, helping them rebuild. Meanwhile, a tree is beginning to grow underground, meaning that the planet is beginning to heal.

L² Comment:

After 5 years of directing his very first animation, Hayao Miyazaki used his comics which he has been Posted in the comic magazine at that time. The animation movie gone a big hit and won a lot of applause. For me, the movie definitely has a sense of education to teach human beings of stop polluting our own earth and stop war. Storyline kinda special but of coz a few parts are a bit boring though...

It's a Mad Mad Mad World 3 富貴再三逼人

 Story:

Continue from the previous movie, Bill & his wife went to collect their winning money from the center. But their lottery-winning picture was shown everywhere in the foreign country which makes them feel uncomfortable. Bill and the family decided to go back to Hong Kong with Momo & Joe (who came to tackle Dai). Lai decided to stay back for her study with Shui.

Back to Hong Kong, the whole family become very arrogant and live like king. They requested the bank to prepare notes of HKD 3,000,000 for them to view. Bill's wife brought their old neighbours there and cause the robbery to happen. When the robberies gone with the money, they are back to the poor life again. Pauline wanna make her mother feel happy again, she makes a false lottery ticket and almost cause Bill's wife to be arrested but luckily was helped out by an old friend. Lai and Shui get married and went back to Hong Kong while Bill's wife stay with them when she gone into a fight with Bill. 

Finally Bill's wife lost all their money in a casino. While looking for her, Lai and Shui accidentally win a jackpot of HKD 200,000. And they money that got stole away was paid back by the insurance. Finally the family is rich again.

This is the last movie of the trilogy comedy, of course it still got a lots of extended version. For me, this is not as good as the first two movies. Is it because Clifton is no more the director of this film? Or they have ran out of idea? Anyway, love the way they show all the cash in the bank~ kinda like that scene :P

 Story:

This round, Bill & his family decided to stay in their current lifestyle. So happened that Bill's boss thought Bill know about their anti money laundering, they send Bill & his family to Vancouver station. In the same time, Dai's company send her there for training and Lai went there to proceed her study. The whole family went there together and Dai met her old friend Momo in the airplane.

When they are there, they mess up things and lots of funny things appeared. They try to live in the western style but it seems like that not really goes. Bill's wife is pregnant this time, but she still always buy the lottery even if she's in Vancouver. Bill accidentally let his boss know that he knows nothing about the laundering and he was fired and sent back to Hong Kong, but before this Bill's wife has delivered in the Vancouver.

They went back while Dai & Lai continue their life in Vancouver. In Hong Kong, Bill's wife discovered the hit the lottery in Vancouver and the money has to be drawn before Christmas. They went to the boss to borrow some money but was rejected, luckily all the old neighbours helped out and donated money to them. Bill's boss happened to be in financial problem and he decided to snatch the lottery ticket from Bill. The family fought against the bad boss in Vancouver and Pauline cycle her best to the station and realized she was still 10 minutes late.

The family was sad and they went to eat in a restaurant, Bill stay back to do the dishes cleaning, the whole family help out. And they found out Vancouver is one day later than Hong Kong's time zone. In the end, the family get the money and become rich again.

Non stop laughing even though i watched this again and again for so many times, this is a classic comedy :) The storyline is of course expected, but it still makes me laugh even though so many years later~

 Story:

Bill is a tele-reporter who always make mistake during his work, but he was lucky not to get fired because he helps the boss to cover up his affair. But on a big mistake show on live, Bill was asked to leave the work. Bill's wife is a fat Shanghai lady who always gamble and buy the lucky numbers and hope to strike for big fortune. They have 3 daughters - Dai who is having a big boobs and like to dance with her boyfriend, Joe; Lai is still studying and always dream to go Japan to see her idol; Pauline the youngest was always proud of herself and love to claim herself as a genius kid.

On a luck arrival, Bill's wife win a HKD19,970,000.00 and they are rich. They tried to hide this from others but it was told by Dai to Joe. Joe's friend get greedy and kidnap Pauline to ask for the money. But luckily John (Bill's brother) came to save Pauline and finally everyone is safe and happy again.

This is my most favorite movie ever in this world... i really mean it. I watched it so many times that i can even memorize all the dialogue and all sceneries. Think these series has been a representive movie for Lydia Sum and Bill Dong... Both of them have left us, and i hope they are RIP :)
